Byw’n Iach Gymnastics Competition 2023

For the first time since the pandemic, the Byw’n Iach gymnastics competition was held in Byw’n Iach Plas Silyn, Penygroes. 155 children took part in the competition from seven different Byw’n Iach centres. The competition is popular each year and provides children who attend Byw’n Iach gymnastics lessons the opportunity to develop their skills and show what they have learnt in their classes.

As a part of the competition, the children had to show a routine followed by a jump off the box. Then the older children competed by demonstrating two routines and two jumps off the box. Like every year, the level of the competition was very high.

Each year, there are two shields given as prizes at the end of the competition. The first is given to the winning centre, which this year was Byw’n Iach Glaslyn, making it their fourth time winning the shield. The second is the John Pike Award for the overall highest score in the competition.

In the boys competition, Wil Roberts from Byw’n Iach Plas Silyn finished in first place however the shield went to Eva Jones from Byw’n Iach Plas Ffrancon who had the highest score in the girls competition with a score of 28.20 out of 30 (94%). A big congratulations to Eva!

Our classes at Byw’n Iach follow the ‘A-Z’ path from Wales Gymnastics and ensure that children to receive the essential skills for different groups and classes.  7 of our centres provide gymnastic lessons of a high standard, and there are enough spaces to welcome new members.

The weekly gymnastics lessons will begin again on the 4th of Septemeber.
