In recent months, swimming galas have taken place at Byw’n Iach centres for primary schools across Gwynedd. A total of 8 galas were organized, one at each Byw’n Iach swimming pool, with an additional event at Byw’n Iach Arfon for Hafod Lon and Pendalar schools.
These events allowed over 850 children from local schools to compete and showcase the skills they had acquired in their school swimming lessons over the year.
This is what Dyfed Davies, Byw’n Iach’s Aquatic Development Officer, said about the galas:
“It was great that children from across Gwynedd had the opportunity to compete in the pool. The competition was of very high standard and all the children enjoyed.
I hope that competing in this way will encourage more children to join swimming clubs and have more opportunities to compete in the pool.”
Throughout the competition, all schools showcased a high standard of swimming, competing in various strokes and relays. However, these schools came out on top:
