On Saturday 13/07/24, Byw’n Iach hosted our annual Gymnastics competition at Byw’n Iach Glaslyn, Porthmadog. The competition is popular each year and provides children who attend Byw’n Iach gymnastics lessons the opportunity to develop their skills and show what they have learned in their classes. This year, 176 children competed from seven Byw’n Iach centres.
The standard of competition was high from all the centres, but one came out on top. Byw’n Iach Glaslyn took first place for the second year in a row with a score of 109. This is their fifth time winning this award. Byw’n Iach Glaslyn were closely followed by Byw’n Iach Plas Silyn in 2nd place and Byw’n Iach Dwyfor in 3rd place.
Each year, the John Pike award is also given to highest scoring girl and boy in the competition. This year, the highest scoring girl was Elin Kay Rhys from Byw’n Iach Glaslyn with a score of 94%. Oliver Middleton from Byw’n Iach Penllyn was the highest scoring boy with a score of 85%. Congratulations to both of them!
Our classes at Byw’n Iach follow the paths from Welsh and British Gymnastics to ensure that children to receive the essential skills within the classes. 8 of our centres provide gymnastic lessons of a high standard, and there are enough spaces to welcome new members.
The weekly gymnastics lessons will begin again in September.
