Insport Accreditation

We have gained Insport accreditation!

Insport is a Disability Sport Wales scheme, delivered with the support of Sport Wales, which recognises good work in creating inclusive opportunities. With the aim of supporting the physical activity, sport and leisure sectors.

Our Disability Sports Development Officer has been very busy leading a small team at Byw’n Iach to prepare an application for the Ribbon level Accreditation, which is the first step in the process.

There was a need to gather and present a lot of evidence about things like staff training, the centres programs and examples of good work in adapting to meet the needs of disabled people.

4 company representatives had the opportunity to present our work to the Insport Panel, which offers the awards. The news arrived,  that the Panel was very pleased with our work and happy to award the Ribbon Award to Byw’n Iach.

Here is a quote from the report

The Panel felt that this was an excellent starting position, that was focused with clearly identified future areas of work, positively going in the right direction. Continued partnership work to support the development of inclusive opportunities and experiences, resulting in a confident workforce.

This is what our Managing Director, Amanda Davies, had to say

We are delighted that the company’s hard work in creating inclusive opportunities has been recognised through the award. But this is just the start of the journey. We will now proceed to work on what is required as part of the scheme’s Bronze standard. By following the Disability Sport Wales framework we will ensure that there are suitable opportunities for all, across our facilities and programs.

We are so happy with this news and so pleased to be able to provide inclusive opportunities at our centres!

We are now moving on to work towards the Bronze standard.
