On Wednesday 02/09/26, everyone came together in the studio at Byw’n Iach Arfon to welcome Medi Harris and Ela Letton-Jones back after their recent success at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Ela competed in the Women’s S13 100m Freestyle race at the 2026 Commonwealth Games and won a Silver medal, and this year was Medi Harris’ second time competing in the Games.
The event was an opportunity to celebrate their success, and to congratulate them on how far they have both come since her days attending Byw’n Iach school swimming lessons.

The children from the local swimming clubs had the opportunity to meet and take pictures with the swimmers, and ask questions such as “Have you ever thought of giving up? What helped you keep going?” and “How do you balance swimming with school/College and your friends?” during the question and answer session, and she received a lot of useful help from both to help her swimming journey moving forward.
Some of the children asked “What is your favorite food to eat before and after a race?“, and the response to this was carbs and pizza, an answer that pleased!
Seeing the two in the same place where she started her journey was a real inspiration for the local children who are at the beginning of her swimming journeys, giving them hope that they could be sitting in the chairs answering questions one day.

Beth Lawton, a member of the Byw’n Iach board, presented the two with a bouquet of flowers at the end of the session, a sign from us to congratulate them on how far they have come since his days swimming in the Byw’n Iach pools.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and made it a success.
Thanks also to Medi Harris and Ela Letton-Jones – we wish you both the best of luck in your swimming journeys moving forward.
