Guidelines
The awards recognise achievements from 30/09/2025 onwards.
The closing date for applications is 30/09/26
An individual can be nominated for more than one category – but a separate application must be submitted for each category
The panel’s decision is final – the panel reserves the right to make further enquiries about any application.
Category Information
Senior Male Athlete of the Year – This category is for anyone who has excelled at a national or higher level.
Senior Male Athlete of the Year (non-elite) – This category is for anyone who excels within a club/team at a local or regional level.
Senior Female Athlete of the Year – This category is for anyone who has excelled at a national or higher level.
Senior Female Athlete of the Year (non-elite) – This category is for anyone who excels within a club/team at a local or regional level.
Junior Athlete of the Year – This category is for anyone under the age of 18 who has excelled in the world of sport.
Team of the Year – A category open to any team – of any age – who has experienced exceptional success during the past year.
Club of the Year – You should include information about the entire club, not just one team within the club. Achievements in the field should be noted, as well as what the club has done to attract new members, train or qualify volunteers, fundraise, develop its equipment or facilities, reduce carbon footprint, etc.
Volunteer of the Year – It is important to list all the work/hours the volunteer contributes, including the impact of their work on the club/local community.
Coach of the Year – It should be noted that a coach can be successful without necessarily winning something. Therefore, it is important to outline all the things the coach has achieved over the year, e.g., player development, personal development, mentoring new coaches, establishing new arrangements, innovative coaching work, etc.
Inclusive provider of the year – Open to any club/organization/institution that has made a special effort to create inclusive opportunities, including provision for disabled people. The following information must be submitted with this category:
Describe the provision or project (e.g. programme, club, or inclusive activity)
Who benefits from the provision and how does it promote inclusion? Provide examples of how barriers have been reduced or removed.
What impact has the provision had? (e.g. increase in participation, wellbeing, confidence)
What are the plans or ambitions for the future?

Sports Event of the Year –This category is to recognize a notable sporting or physical activity event that has shown impact and organization, offered a memorable experience, and the ability to inspire, engage and unite people. The following information must be submitted with this category:
Name and nature of the event (e.g. race, tournament, sports festival)
Describe the event. Provide full details about the event including the date, location, number of participants, and the types of activities that took place.
What made this event successful or special? (e.g. organisation, high attendance, participants’ experience)
What impact did the event have? (e.g. on the community, participation in sport, awareness)
What is the future of the event / plans to develop it?
